Sattler’s approach to recycling management is the ecological and economic alternative to virgin raw material. The first step in the loop is to redeem graded quality offcuts and reclaimed plastics. The second step is to grind them. In the third step, we make or contract manufacture recycling compounds or process the material further on commission. This way, we bring the statutory raw material cycle full circle, relieving waste disposal plants’ burden and offering an economically viable alternative to virgin raw material.
This is a result of the systematic work approach of our employees for the compound formulations - perfectly paired with our own colour laboratory. In the colour laboratory, we have the respective equipment for colour measurement that helps us realize customer-specific colour formulations for you. Our focus has been on colouring since the company’s launch in 1965. A long-term and profound experience that is reflected in our skills and track record in all fields of plastics colouring.
Precise colouration requires inorganic and organic pigments, and powdered colourants. This is why original ingredients are an integral part of every Sattler colour formulation.
Coloured thermoplastics must be colourfast, homogeneous, lightfast, temperature- and migration-resistant and of enduring quality. Sattler has extensive experience, a dedicated workforce and a well-equipped laboratory. With these assets, we are able to colour almost every type of thermoplastic granulate at an excellent quality level and in any technically feasible colour. And if you wish to outsource to us, we are happy to take your toll manufacturing order.
A key indicator of flexibility and quality. Sattler is small and agile enough to respond flexibly, yet large enough to deliver on time and at the desired level of quality.
Ready to be processed, solid-coloured thermoplastic granules that are made of a mixture of polymers, colours and dyes plus additives. Each of our plastics granules is small as a grain of rice, but great in value for your individual purpose.
Our business is to bring exactly the desired colour into your products by means of compounding. Compounding is the process of combining, blending and mixing different raw materials to obtain homogeneous thermoplastics for moulding. For this purpose, thermoplasts are endowed with additional and customer-specific product properties to exactly meet your requirements regarding improved demoldability, laser-specific capabilities, impact resistance, light-tightness and/or flame retardancy and the like. The result of our compounding process is a solid-coloured thermoplastic granulate - ready for use.
A critical demand that often virgin raw materials cannot meet. Sattler Recompounds are frequently the saving (and savings) alternative.
Decreased costs - increase in quality and flexibility: Our certified Sattler Compounds are here to help you bridge this gap.
A decisive quality criterion, particularly for polycarbonates. Sattler also formulates solutions for components that are difficult to demould.

Are you looking for compounds that can be marked, engraved or welded with a laser? Then look no further than Sattler laser compounds. Simply let us know precisely which application you intend to use the laser compound for. We can prepare a compound in (almost) every plastics type to precisely meet your expectations and satisfy your demand.
Laser engraving removes parts of the plastics' surface, for example, an enamel coating. We provide our laser-specific compounds with non-absorptive pigments to resist undesirable discoloration.
Reactive pigments are added to our laser-specific compounds to achieve the desired laser marking / inscription effect. This is, in effect, a form of colouring. With our long-term colouring experience and painstaking fine-tuning efforts, we are able to achieve the targeted results with pinpoint precision.
In laser welding, it is essential to focus the beam’s energy fully on the target spot, applying all this energy to the seam. To this end, we provide our laser-specific compounds for welding with special pigments that are transparent to infrared radiation or able to absorb infrared radiation.
LED Technology puts specific demands on the selection of materials: A point-light source is supposed to be evenly dispersed across a large area whereas the light source is concealed. Housings are often smaller in dimensions and require higher light-tightness and at the same time a low wall thickness. Any heat generated needs to be quickly dissipated from ist point of origin, to ensure a long service life of an LED. For all these tasks, Sattler KunststoffWerk offers you customer-specific solutions "Made in Mühlheim am Main“:
- Diffuse light transmission for uniform and consistent illumination
- light-tight colouring - even for wall strenghts below 1 mm
- PC Ekalon® with thermal conductivity in opaque colourings
- UL-94 listed PC Ekalon in flame classes HB, V-2 and V-0 starting from 1,5 mm in all colours
We are happy to present you - at your or at our place - the advantages of our compounds for your specific requirements.
By means of or homogeneous colouring process, you will achieve two goals at a time: A maximum of light-tightness and minimum wall thickness. Together with you, we will implement light-tight colouring even for a wall thickness of less than 1 mm.
A lot of plastcics engineering companies utilize masterbatches for self-colouring. An attractive alternative is to make use of plastic compounds in the form of solid-coloured plastic granulates.
To certain respects, components made from a homogeneously coloured compound have considerable advantage over components made from colour concentrates: Even when various components are assembled, there is uniform and even colour distribution - independent from differing production circumstances across several injection moulding premises. Furthermore, there will be less scrap during each machine start-up.
Polycarbonate and other plastics are very sensitive to an additivation with Colours and dyes. In particular, when it comes to titanium dioxide which is commonly utilized for opaque colours. One of ist characteristics is to interfere with the polymer matrix, entailing decreased breaking resistance. If a plastics processing company uses colour concentrates - instead of a solid-coloured compound - the extent of the decrease in breaking resistance may hardly be foreseen and determined.
The Sattler test certificate is a detailed, itemised report enclosed with each lot that is delivered to you. The average values of released samples taken during the production of each batch provide the basis for assessment. This approach serves to fully corroborate the product’s properties.
This is a thermoplastic with good electrical and mechanical properties. Hallmarks of the Sattler polycarbonate Ekalon® include superior flowability and demoldability and at the same time ensure breaking resistance as well as electrical properties.
Antiviral and germicidal, Polygiene® compounds are perfect for applications in public rooms and private living quarters. Sattler KunststoffWerk is able to bring the benefits of Polygiene® to almost every thermoplastics compound in almost every colour and quantity.

Key features: Thermoplastics soften when heated and harden when cooled without changing their properties. They may be recycled and reused repeatedly.
This comprises an audit conducted by UL test engineers to assess the company’s quality control system as well as the listed materials.
Upcycling is the next evolutionary stride in recycling. It ups the value of production residuals and is often an economically viable alternative to virgin raw material
Sattler compounds made from secondary raw materials (so-called recompounds) maintain a value of raw material ingredients which equals virgin raw materials. Our forward-looking motto is: “Upcycling rather than down-cycling” - which inspires ever more customers.
The list VDA 232-201 is published by VDA, i.e. the German Association of the Automotive Industry. It contains data for selection of thermoplastic materials used in interior, exterior and engine compartment. It cites materials and material classes used in automotive manufacturing that harbour potential risks for people and environment throughout their lifecycle.
Based on your specific requirements, Sattler Compounds are made 100% from virgin raw material or - in case of Recompounds - from secondary raw materials.
